SCENT OF THE DAY
Some men pay for the label. Others pay for the compliments. In 2015, the Dubai-based house Armaf released Club de Nuit Intense Man in a black bottle with a silver cap, and fragrance fans noticed quickly. Its smoky-fruity profile is often compared to far pricier icons, and it has since become one of the most-discussed bottles online.

The opening is a bright, bracing blast of lemon, pineapple, bergamot, blackcurrant and apple. It settles into a darker heart of smoky birch softened by rose and jasmine, then finishes on musk, ambergris, patchouli and a whisper of vanilla. Fair warning: it's loud for the first hour, then it turns refined.
Wear it to the office (one spray), to the club (two) or on a first date (two, and spray it 30 minutes before you leave to let the opening calm down). It works in every season.
